I’ve had a passion for art since high school, and I finally reached a point in my life where I could fully dedicate my time, energy, and motivation to pursuing it.
Art school was full of moments of frustration and growth. There were times when I struggled with pieces that didn’t turn out as planned, but looking back, those challenges were crucial for my growth. They helped me refine my skills and see progress in my work.
A key influence was my instructor, Elli, who encouraged us to experiment with different media. Initially, I was hesitant, but that exploration, especially with inks and fluid acrylics, became a vital part of my artistic process.
While I’ve faced challenges in my personal life, such as less time with my grandchildren, it’s allowed me to dedicate more focus to my art. This time has become a valuable opportunity to pour myself into my creative work.
Despite personality assessments suggesting a more neutral palette, I’ve embraced vibrant colors, especially blues, to create peaceful and lively compositions. It’s this blend of nature and color that defines my unique style.
Key Takeaways:
Perseverance Leads to Growth: Overcoming challenges in art school helped refine my skills.
Mentorship Matters: Encouragement to explore different media was pivotal.
Finding Balance: Personal challenges can become opportunities for creative focus.
Embracing Your Style: Blending personality with artistic expression leads to unique work.
